When Should You Schedule Your Maternity & Newborn Sessions?

One of the most common questions I get is, “When should I book?” And the short answer? Earlier than you think.

Maternity Sessions

The sweet spot for maternity photos is between 28–34 weeks. Your belly is beautifully round,

but you’re (hopefully!) still feeling comfortable enough to move, laugh, and truly enjoy the experience. Waiting too long can mean swelling, exhaustion, or even baby arriving early and missing the window entirely. Though you can schedule anytime during your pregnancy. It's a recommendation not set in stone.

If you’re considering a maternity session, I recommend reaching out in your 1st trimester or early in the 2nd trimester to secure your spot.

Newborn Sessions

Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first 7–14 days after birth. During this

time, babies are still extra sleepy and curly, making it easier to capture those peaceful, snuggly portraits everyone loves.

While I recommend you schedule within that time frame they can be done from 3-8 weeks. So if you're past the 14 days don't worry, we can make it happen.

The key? Book while you’re still pregnant — ideally during your second trimester at the latest. We’ll pencil in based on your due date and adjust once baby arrives. No stress, no guessing.

if you're ready to do maternity and newborn we can bundle them and schedule them at the same time. Once booked you only have to reach out when baby arrives. I'll be in touch for the rest.

These early days go fast. The tiny fingers, the milk-drunk stretches, the way they fit perfectly in your arms — it changes in a blink.

Planning ahead simply ensures you don’t miss it.

If you're expecting and wondering where to start, this is your sign.
